President Obama Launches the BRAIN Initiative

President Obama launched the BRAIN (Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies) Initiative,  a bold new research initiative designed to revolutionize our understanding of the human brain. Obama stressed  importance of investing in American innovation to create jobs and strengthen our economy.

UCLA’s Chancellor Gene Block, Professor Kelsey Martin (Interim Dean, David Geffen School of Medicine; Professor, Department of Chemical Biology & Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences), and James S. Economou (then Vice Chancellor for Research) were present for the launch in Washington DC.
