Casandra Rauser, PhD, named director of the UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge

UCLA Grand Challenges is pleased to announce that Casandra Rauser, PhD, will serve as the director of the first UCLA Grand Challenge project – “Thriving In A Hotter Los Angeles.” Rauser comes to UCLA from UC Irvine’s office for research development where she served as the director for the past two years. Rauser, who earned a PhD in biological sciences from UC Irvine in 2005, will lead the UCLA effort to achieve the ambitious goals of 100 percent local water, 100 percent renewable energy, and enhanced ecosystem health in Los Angeles County by 2050.
