March 11, 2016

On March 11, 2016, Samuel Mann of the podcast Sustainable LENS interviewed Casandra (Cassie) Rauser, PhD (Director of the UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge) about her unique path to becoming involved with the UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge (SLA GC) and what it will take for Los Angeles to be the global model of urban sustainability. Cassie discussed how the SLA GC is developing technologies, policies, and strategies through cutting-edge research to transition L.A. County to 100% renewable energy, 100% local water, and enhanced ecosystem health by 2050. Also highlighted was the recently released Five-Year Work Plan, the most detailed proposal yet for how the SLA GC aims to transform the region and ensure that a hotter, more populous Los Angeles can improve overall quality of life.
