UCLA student earns UC president’s leadership award

UCLA doctoral student Tyler Watson helped launch the Stair Well project, encouraging people on campus to take the stairs instead of the elevator to get some exercise.

UCLA graduate student Tyler Watson has been honored by University of California President Janet Napolitano with the President’s Award for Outstanding Student Leadership. Tyler is a Global Food Initiative student ambassador and a researcher with the UCLA Healthy Campus Initiative. His work promotes sustainable and environmentally-conscious behavior both at UCLA and in the greater Los Angeles area. Tyler is also a Sustainable LA Grand Challenge Powell Policy Fellow researching urban agriculture in Los Angeles County.
This fellowship is made possible through a generous gift from Norman J. Powell, the Emmett Family Foundation and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.
