Leadership Council Co-Chair Kelsey Martin recently featured in Chronicle of Higher Education

Kelsey Martin, co-chair of the Depression Grand Challenge’s Leadership Council, was recently profiled by The Chronicle of Higher Education. As the first female dean of David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, Kelsey Martin is fostering a community of open discussion and tolerance. Dr. Martin is currently investigating the selection processes for medical residents and faculty members to ensure that both are free of discrimination. During her time in the Peace Corps, Kelsey wrote grants to establish successful measles-vaccination programs in rural villages. The Peace Corps also taught Kelsey about how geographic and cultural factors influence a patient’s well-being and health. Kelsey Martin is committed to maintaining a culture of equity within the medical school while also providing equitable, high-quality health care to people in the surrounding community.
