UCLA Depression Grand Challenge takes over basketball game to out depression
January 12, 2018
To celebrate Mental Wellness Month (January), raise awareness for the Depression Grand Challenge (DGC) and further promote the Check In Survey, the DGC partnered with The Den at Thursday, January 11, 2018’s UCLA vs. Utah Men’s Basketball game. The game was played at Pauley Pavilion and nationally televised on ESPN2.
To draw attention to the importance of talking about depression, 800 students in the lower section of The Den – UCLA’s official student section – were given shirts that read “UCLA Outs Depression.” This campaign is a component of the DGC, which is UCLA’s commitment to end depression.
Members of the Research Enhancement Office and DGC also hosted a table in the concourse of Pauley Pavilion throughout the game to raise awareness about both grand challenges.
