January 31, 2019

UCLA announced that Kevin de León, former president pro tempore of the California State Senate and LA Sustainability Leadership Council member, joined the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs as a distinguished policymaker-in-residence and senior analyst.

In his new role at UCLA, de León is partnering with the Luskin Center for Innovation (LCI) to design implementation strategies for key climate and environmental legislation that he spearheaded during his tenure in the California State Senate. The collaboration will focus on the implementation of California’s 100% clean energy bill (SB 100) which de León authored, as well as legislation aimed at expanding disadvantaged communities’ access to clean transportation.

De León will begin teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in the spring quarter. De León will also serve in an advisory position to the Latino Policy and Politics Initiative at UCLA.
