Yongjie Hu, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, was one of three early-career UCLA professors awarded the 2019 Sloan Research Fellowship. Recipients of the award are considered amongst the most promising scholars in their fields and receive a two-year, $70,000 research grant from the Alfred P. This year’s UCLA recipients also included Dennis Chetverikov,
an assistant professor of economics , and Aaswath Raman, an assistant professor of materials science and engineering. The Sustainable LA Grand Challenge funded Yongjie’s work in collaboration with Adrienne Lavine,
