Ann Carlson provides expert legal opinion on Juliana v. United States in Los Angeles Times article

June 3, 2019

Ann Carlson, co-director of the Emmett Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at UCLA School of Law, provided an expert legal opinion in an LA Times article focused on Juliana v. United States. This is a groundbreaking climate lawsuit that was filed by a group of 21 kids and young adults in 2015 who argue that the United States government’s use of fossil fuels violates their constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property.

The question before the court, for which Carlson provided insight, is whether the children have standing in court, essential for the case to proceed.
