UCLA Depression Grand Challenge partners with UCLA Health OB-GYN clinic to study at-risk pregnancy population
July 23, 2019The UCLA Depression Grand Challenge (DGC) recently launched the Perinatal Mood and Behavior Tracking (PMBT) study, a pilot partnering with the OB/GYN clinic (part of the UCLA Health System).
Because depression affects between 6.5-19.2% of pregnant women and those in the first three months postpartum, this population group is of great interest to explore depression risk factors during pregnancy. In addition to research findings, the study provides an opportunity to test out methods that will be critical for the larger research cohort (anticipated to be close to 100K participants) such as how to recruit and schedule study assessments in relation to clinical workflows, and leverage existing resources for data collection.
