Applications open for the 2020-21 Sustainable LA Grand Challenge Undergraduate Research Scholars Program
May 1, 2020The UCLA Sustainable LA Grand Challenge Undergraduate Research Scholars Program (URSP) is accepting applications for the 2020-21 academic year. The URSP is a year-long academic course for undergraduates who want to gain hands-on experience in sustainability research while contributing to the goals of the Sustainable LA Grand Challenge. UCLA students from all majors are encouraged to apply.

Students will conduct research under the mentorship of Sustainable LA Grand Challenge faculty and senior sustainability researchers. Additionally, participants will have the chance to participate in their own group interdisciplinary research experiences aimed at addressing real urban sustainability challenges in the Los Angeles area.
The course is open to students who will be second and third years during the 2020-21 school year. Fourth-year students and above may apply to be project consultants, who help provide leadership and guidance to the student research groups.
Students enrolled in the URSP will receive a total of four units each quarter for their work. The course is offered for two units each quarter, and students will receive a P/NP in the Fall and letter grades in the Winter and Spring quarters. Additionally, each student will register for two units of SRP99 each quarter (P/NP).
