UCLA’s Michael Jerrett quoted in the Los Angeles Times on the connection between air pollution and COVID-19

Michael Jerrett (professor and chair of the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health) was quoted in a Los Angeles Times story about poor air quality and the links to higher rates of COVID-19 in Black and Latino communities in Los Angeles.

Jerrett is leading two studies of air pollution and COVID-19 risk. “What we’re seeing in the L.A. study is definitely clear signals that people who live in more polluted neighborhoods tend to have higher death rates from COVID,” Jerrett said.
