Sustainable LA Grand Challenge participates in regional nature-based climate solutions roundtable

March 31, 2021

Sustainable LA Grand Challenge Executive Director Casandra Rauser attended a five-day virtual roundtable hosted by The Nature Conservancy, Los Angeles County Chief Sustainability Office, USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy and USDA California Climate Hub.

The virtual roundtable, Accelerating Nature-Based Climate Solutions Across California, was a series of short, two-hour sessions, asking for input on how to accelerate nature-based climate solutions, such as urban forestry and greening, wetland restoration, changes in land management, conservation of open space and fire risk mitigation, across Southern California.

Breakout sessions focused on urban lands, working lands and natural lands to identify key opportunities and barriers to accelerate nature-based climate solutions, and how these activities, if implemented, could support underserved communities, and achieve additional public benefits and support regional priorities.
