The capture of carbon dioxide and conversion into commercial products, such as fuel or construction materials, has the potential to become a new global industry, according to a study published in Nature conducted by researchers from UCLA, University of Oxford and five other institutions. The study is the most comprehensive report of its kind investigating the future scale and cost of 10 methods to use carbon dioxide.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the San Diego County Board Supervisors voted unanimously to implement a state-funded rebate program for electric vehicles. The program, “Clean Cars 4 All,” provides between $5,000 and $10,000 in rebates for low-income drivers to purchase electric vehicles. The San Diego Union-Tribune referenced a report published earlier this month by UCLA’s Luskin Center for Innovation, stating that the South Coast district’s “…outreach effort has helped people replace more than 2,000 vehicles since the program began.”
